My run crew, Tribe Fitness, is proud to again be teaming up with the Canada Running Series to offer a 9 week ‘Couch to 8K’ Virtual Training Program, consisting of email based mentorship support as well as optional in-personal weekly training runs from our Tribe Fitness Headquarters at City Place located at Spadina and Fort York, in Toronto.
This beginner-friendly, 9-week training program is designed to prepare YOU to reach a distance of 8K, in order to complete the Race Roster Spring Run-Off in High Park on Saturday April 9th. The Couch to 8K program is based on a run/walk progression and no past running experience is required.
Weekly in-person sessions will consist of a 10 minute class covering training basics and technique, followed by a 25-50 minute group run/walk session. A training plan will be provided to you at the first in person session, outlining the entire 9 weeks. Participants are encouraged to attend the weekly workouts in person, however if that is not possible, participants can follow the training plan online, at their own convenience as a member of the #VirtualTribe. Participants must be able to walk 60 minutes continuously at the beginning of the program.
Participants will also be invited to participate in two organized training runs (dates TBD) in High Park. Participants will have the option to run 5K or 8K along the actual race route, from start to finish.
