Gear Review: Moto 360 Sport Watch

IMG_2177For a couple of months I was lent the new Motorola Moto 360 Sport Watch to give a test run during my training and while living my life. For me timing was perfect, as I was in a place where my regular run watch wasn’t serving me – wouldn’t start was giving me bizarre stats, and my new performance therapist was asking me for lots of data, so I thought I’d give it a try. I did a little research before the watch arrived and really looked forward to it arrival. It was simple to make this watch part of my everyday going from the office, getting social, and going out for a run.

IMG_2220What first attracted me to this watch was it’s look.  The Moto 360 Sport is small and thin for a run watch with epic features (detailed below), and that’s what I liked about it – no clunky oversized GPS on my small wrist like I’ve had from other brands. It has a durable yet comfortable design, made of a strong silicone construction, so it doesn’t absorb sweat and resists fading and staining. It also comes in three great colours – black, white, and orange (only black is currently available in Canada). Personally I was hoping for the orange – but since I was giving it back after a couple months the black worked and also contributed it going well from my run to work.

IMG_2218Moto 360 Sport has built-in GPS that tracks your distance traveled, pace, lap times, while out on a run and syncs with fitness apps including Fitbit®, MapMyRun®, Under Armour Record™, and Strava. It has a built in heart rate monitor that continuously tracks your heart rate during a run to monitor your performance. You can instantly see your beats per minute, and with the Moto Body app, measure the time you spend in different heart rate zones to make sure you’re achieving your fitness goals.

But if that wasn’t enough – here’s what I really loved- you can sync your favorite playlists and podcasts from Google Play™ Music to your Moto 360 Sport and then listen to music on Bluetooth® headphones while out on the go – from your watch!!

The Moto 360 Sport comes with a charging dock that you simply placed the watch on to charge no plugging the watch in. Again this was very simply as it charged fairly quickly and held it’s charge – especially compared to what I’m currently using.

IMG_2206This watch is perfect for going from your run to the workplace. It has a great fit, is smaller in size, and has a ton of awesome features which can replace your many wearables to track all your life’s movement data on one device. It retails for $299 and can be purchased online or from a Telus store.
