Tribe Tunes Tuesday: SeaWheeze Edition

Tunes Tuesday2

At Tribe we have officially launched out training program for the SeaWheeze half marathon this August in Vancouver. With over 30 runners from Tribe we know it’s going to be an epic party, but thanks to the release of the Sunset Festival band line-up that party just got even more exciting.

SeaWheeze is more than a half marathon – in fact many runners say the running is the least exciting part! It’s the lead up events – free yoga – shopping – street entertainers – free food – and many other experiences at the expo and then the post run party includes more yoga with thousands of your new closest run friends – vendors with delicious food and drinks – more shopping – free trapeze – and a line up of epic musicians. And yes, all this is included with your race entry! (plus a medal, finisher swag, and training swag).

So who is this years epic post run party line up?

Now to help you get in the spirit Tribe has created our own Spotify playlist of our favourite songs from these three artists. Check it out here and enjoy!

This Holiday Season Show Up and #GivePresence

On November 18 this video was shared with me and I have thought about it every day since. I have watched it more than a dozen times since, shared it, referenced it, and on a daily basis have the words of Danielle LaPorte ring through my mind.

“Do not check your email while I’m telling you intimate things” ~ 0:17

Confession: Often while at work this is me.

When a colleague needs to chat, there is still work that needs to be done,  and in the past I have continued to work. Looking up to great them, then turning back to my monitor to type while they share, question, and try to engage. Now, the words of Danielle ring through my mind and I #GivePresence.

Please take a second to watch and change. And this holiday season and then beyond, unplug and be present.

‘Tis the Season for Active Living

Sure with the weather getting colder and cozy blankets and holiday movies becoming so much more enticing it would be easy to throw your exercise regime to the side and replace it with a warm mug of hot chocolate, but don’t do it!

Here are two upcoming run events in Toronto that will be sure to motivate you to step away from the Elf rerun and run!

Dec 16th, 7-9pm. Light It Up Run hosted by lululemon.

The Queen st. W Lululemon invites you to join them in their 4th annual Light It Up run, holiday style! The 7km run will travel through Toronto’s best light displays, leaving you feeling breathless and full of holiday joy.
After the run, join them for some post-run fun! Meet at the store for some sweets and treats.

Dec 18th, 7-8pm. Ugly Sweater Run hosted by Oakley Active and Tribe Fitness.

Bring out those ugly holiday sweaters and Santa hats! This week Tribe fitness and Oakley Active are  sweating in holiday style with a 6km holiday themed fun run.
They will be checking out the glowing holiday lights of the downtown core on a route that will have you up along Bloor, down to Yonge Dundas Square, back along Queen and finishing at the Queen and University Starbucks, so bring your debit card for an optional post run treat.

Now which ugly sweater to wear?

All levels of runners are invited to both events. Hope to see you at one or BOTH!

Bonus event!

Dec 13th, 5-5:45 and 6-7pm SpinRave hosted by Tribe Fitness at Barreworks.

Glow sticks, black lights, and sweaty cardio beats, join me as I lead our monthly SpinRave at Barreworks on Queen and Bathurst. Two class times to start your weekend off right. or
