Looking for motivation to crush some goals or get in shape this summer? Why not sign up for a charity event that will have you sweating for social good!
Almost every weekend starting in June you can find a walk, run, or ride for a great cause. Pick one that means something to you, create a team (or do it alone), and train for a great cause. Consider leverage smaller distance events to help you get to a larger event in the fall. Consider shorter running races or bike rides which will keep you on track for a fall goal.
While I participate in many events during the summer which fuze my favourite sports with charitable giving, I’m very excited to be part of team Story Spinners at Bike for Tykes day on June 19th. For me this event will be a great leverage for my summer of triathlon fun which will hopefully culminate with a half IronMan in the fall.
What is Bike for Tykes day?
Bike for Tykes day brings together teams to participate in four hours of spin on stationary bikes in the Toronto financial district. As many as 130 teams and over 700 participants take part in this ride, while the bikes for tykes child ambassadors cheer on!
The fundraising goal for this year is $250,000 which will go towards their 2014 Cause, the Cancer Neighbourhood of the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning. Every dollarĀ raised in support of Bike for Tykes, goes directly to the cause.
Event Date: Thursday June 19, 2014
Event Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
Event Location: TD Courtyard, TD Centre (Southwest corner of King Street and Bay Street)
Sound like a fun day? Sign up a team of up to 4, 6 or 8 spinners, or as a solo cyclist and cycle the whole 4 hours. No prior spinning or training required. First-class spin instructors will lead you from the centre stage while music, refreshments, prizes, technical t-shirts, and more await.
